How Well Do You Know V I Warshawski?

I’ve received bound galleys of Body Work, the new V I novel, from Putnam’s, and I have three to give away to the people who know V I best.

Answer these five questions correctly, and your name will go into a hat for a drawing on August 2.  Send your answers to: if you want to keep them secret, or answer them right here on the comments page.

1. What is V I’s middle name?

2. How many wine glasses did V I’s mother bring with her from Italy?

3.  Where did V I go to university?

4.  How many dogs does she have?

5. What did V I’s father Tony Warshawski do for a living?

Thank you for the contest. I have sent an email.
I just wanted to tell you that I’ve been reading “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”, and thought it was cool that, when he was not working on his own “who-dunnit”, the protagonists spent his free time reading a Sara Paretsky novel. Made me appreciate Stieg Larsson even more.

  • Thanks again for this contest, Sara. It prompted me to re-read “Killing Orders” to refresh my memory regarding the number of glasses Gabriella brought to America! And I must say, I enjoyed the book yet again!

    1. Iphigenia
    2. 8
    3. University of Chicago
    4. Peppy and Mitch
    5. Policeman

Deeper background on the items and people could have been good. Also, questions about Mr. Contreras’ family, Gabriela’s musical history, Tony’s police related past (partners, precincts, superiors) and V.I.’s family (Boom-Boom and other cousins) might have been good for some of the more ardent fans of your spectacular body of work and Vic’s books in particular. I think I speak for all your readers when I write that the world is a richer and more interesting place for your being in it. Thank you for all that you do.

  • Thanks to all of you for your comments and entries. CArlos–I’m much touched. thanks
