Happy New Year

It’s Rosh Hashannah today, the Jewish New Year, and I hope for everyone who reads here that this will be a year of health and happiness.  Traditionally, one eats an apple for sweetness.  It’s hard to imagine that there’s ever been a month, let alone a year, where the whole planet was at peace at once, and it doesn’t seem likely that we’ll achieve that now, but–against all odds, I hope we find peace, in our own lives and in the whole world.

Wishing you and everything the best that life has to offer.

  • And Happy New Year to you, Sara.

(Now I have an excuse to go raid the neighbour’s apple tree! tee hee)

  • I’ll have a pear, or five, instead!

I seem to recall from Sesame Street that you are meant to ask for forgiveness, and to forgive others.

  • bookwitch, you’re right–so if I’ve harmed any of you in my cybercommunity, please let me know, so I can make amends

  • There is this grumpy monster (I forget his name) who refuses to forgive someone, simply because he is grumpy. But the someone quickly forgives the grump for not forgiving him…

We watch this Sesame Street episode every New Year’s Eve, sad people that we are. I’m just getting used to talking New Year stuff in September.

I have just gone through the annual calendar from my daughter’s new college, which happens to be Catholic, to find that every important day in most religions get a listing. It’s nice that they can take many different religions seriously, even if I felt they got the date for the Ascension wrong.

  • Didn’t have access to a computer, yesterday, so this is a belated Happy New Year to you…to everyone. I didn’t know about eating the apple but I like that.

Well, my thoughts about peace pretty much parallel yours. Eisenhower once said, “I think that people want peace so much that one of these days government had better getout of their way and let them have it.” Be real nice if that actually happened.

Sorry for the very, very belated New Year’s Greeting, but have a very Happy New Year and healthy New Year anyway. I am looking forward to reading the latest VI book.
